On 8 March, Kinderland International Preschool @ Vietnam took the opportunity to recognise the incredible role of women in our children’s lives. This provides an opportunity to empower children with the understanding of the role women plays in the society from a young age and lays the foundation for a more inclusive and equitable society. The role of women in a child’s life, particularly as teachers and mothers, is profound and multi-faceted. These roles shape the foundation of a child’s development, influencing their education, emotional well-being, and overall outlook on life.
A few days before International Women’s Day, the school invited the fathers to collaborate and make a special gift with their children for their mothers. The school prepared a candle-making activity for the father to bond with their child whilst channeling their combined love and efforts for the mother. Our supportive fathers and teachers melted the soy wax and poured it into a coconut shell bowl. Our little angels lent their helping hands to add some essential oil to the wax before the wax hardened. They decorated the hand-made candle with dried flowers and dried fruits.
Children presented this personalised hand-made candle to their mothers and teachers on Women’s Day to thank and recognise women’s achievements and challenges they encountered.
Our parents also sent flowers and fruits to thank our female teachers in conjunction with Women’s Day. Parents sent their heartfelt wishes to teachers who play a crucial role in shaping their child’s academic abilities, instilling a love for learning, and nurturing their intellectual curiosity.
Both teachers and mothers serve as role models for children, shaping their understanding of gender roles, behaviours, and expectations. The roles of women as teachers and mothers are integral to a child’s development and well-being. Through their nurturing guidance, educational support, and positive role modelling, women have a great impact in shaping our next generation, fostering curiosity, confidence, and compassion in children as they grow and learn.
